How to capture your imprint

Each piece is made from a moment you’ll only ever have once.
This kit is designed to keep the process simple and precise, even if it’s your first time.

What’s inside your kit

  • 2 wax blanks (1 practice + 1 final casting)
  • Step-by-step instruction card
  • Ring sizer (only included for ring pieces)
  • Your original packaging (please keep this for the return of your kit)

Before you begin

  • Choose a non-flammable surface (no fabric, bedding, or soft furnishings)
  • Make sure hands / paws are clean and dry
  • Keep everything within reach before you start

For children or pets:
Do a practice run first without heating the wax, so they understand the motion.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Prepare the wax blank

Place the wax blank on a stable, non-flammable surface.

2. Heat the wax

Using a lighter, gently heat the surface of the wax.

  • Hold the flame close to the wax but don't let it touch it
  • Move it around evenly so it softens uniformly
  • Heat for approximately for 10–20 seconds

Important:
The wax should become soft and slightly liquid on the surface, but it should NOT lose its original shape. If it begins to deform, it has been overheated.

3. Create the imprint

Once the surface is soft:

  • Press the finger / paw / nose straight down
  • Hold for 3 seconds
  • Lift straight up

You should see clear, defined lines in the wax.

4. Check your result

A good print will show:

  • Clear ridge lines
  • Visible detail and definition
  • No smudging or distortion

If the imprint didn’t capture properly, don’t worry, you can simply reheat the wax and try again.

Practice first

You have two wax blanks:

  • First wax → practice
  • Second wax → final piece

Once you feel confident, move on to the final wax blank.

You can also return both and we will choose the best impression together with you.

Babies, toddlers & children

  • Do a practice placement first (before heating) so they understand the motion
  • Keep the process quick and calm
  • A second adult is helpful for support if needed

Pets

  • Choose a calm moment (sleepy or relaxed is ideal)
  • If fur is thick, gently trim the area slightly for clarity
  • For nose prints: ensure the wax does not cover the nostrils
  • Use reassurance / treats if needed

What not to do

  • Do NOT overheat the wax
  • Do NOT place flame too close
  • Do NOT imprint before the surface is softened evenly

 

Return your kit

Please keep and reuse your original packaging to ensure safe return.

Box Now (Greece)

  • Use the tracking number on your instruction card
  • Write it on the outside of your parcel
  • Drop at any Box Now locker
  • Enter the same code on the keypad to open the locker

Speedex (Greece)

  • A return postage label is included in your parcel
  • Attach it to the outside of your package
  • Drop at your local Speedex branch OR contact us to arrange collection (you will need to be available 9:00–17:00 at your address)

DHL (International)

  • Contact us when you are ready to send your kit back
  • We will issue a return tracking code for your parcel
